Supposedly MF has got bigger fatter....

However, its not really the purpose of this forum.

To grow bigger in this game you need to be in the right place at the right time and grab the opportunity. The problem is that contracting is a easy way to make money. It doesn't require an real effort to make a lot more than the average man in the street. I only have to look at how hard Mrs Eek works to see that,,

Precisely this. At least in terms of building a service company (as opposed to something built around specific products), there's very little incentive to scale-up, because you won't make any more money, and you'll invite an awful lot more hassle. I can perhaps see the incentive if you've developed an innovative line of products and you have a desire to "build something", but I can't see the incentive to develop a consultancy, for example. Contracting is fortunate work if you can get it. When I draw the same comparison to my g/f, who works as a uni. prof., she works 3x harder for less than a third of the money. OTOH, she does love the work, and money isn't everything (apparently ).

Has some of you guys managed to turn contracting business into something bigger / better/ less personal involvement?
Im thinking if somehow jumping into software house would be possible in my case.
        Any success stories here?
        Yes thanks.

Any success stories here? What are the options except for obvious BTL ?
Yes, which is why I own all of IBM, Microsoft and will be buying Apple on Wednesday because I hate the fanboyism and want to shut the company down.

Look if you're going to ask silly General questions start the threads in General. It's been clear from day 1 that your ID is yet another trolling one.

I know two consultancies (with about 50 employees or so) that began with contractors. They had to move away from the standard contractor model of course, and already had a good network.

                    I know people who have.

Some of them are nice and a couple are tossers.

Both groups have an accountant, worked 24-7 when setting up and still can't stop working long hours. Most also had their partners and a few other family members involved to do the more mundane tasks.
