Labour kicked this all off by scrapping the regulatory bodies and bringing in the FSA, allowing self certification and opening the borders. Help young people by educating them on how vicious and incompetent Labour are /were

          On a related note:

2015-06 The Post-Ownership Society - How the “sharing economy” allows Millennials to cope with downward mobility, and also makes them poorer

edit: A telling quote from the article:

While the sharing economy made it seem like I was being thrifty and saving money, the reality was that I spent almost all of my monthly income on rent, student loans, and health insurance. The people who are doing all right, or better than all right, are fewer and fewer, and the rest of us are falling farther behind.

Why the fork should the young own a house?

Let them work hard, save and then buy a house. The good old way.

Except, depending on how old you mean, the "good old way" was to buy a house for 1 year's income, or, in the case of my FIL's mate, to get a mortgage against his dole money and buy a place.

As an old, rich, property owner, where's the "who cares?" option.

                    Quite!

As a young, loaded, villa owner, where's the WGAF option?

Don't be ridiculous. Seriously, you sound like some 20-years-out-of-touch old buffer.

With the low-paid and often part-time jobs available today, and the cost of living (including rent and student loans), most young people can barely afford to save anything, and they could work for years and still have nowhere near enough to afford a place of their own.
