In those cases there was some sort of distorted ideology used such as Marxism/Communism, which I would group with religion. Atheism simple means you don't believe in God, anything layered on top isn't Atheism. Any modern Democratic Atheist country such as Sweden is the correct example. -
Yes because the Daily Mail is the bastion of AtheismOriginally posted by FatLazyContractor View PostJust shows how ignorant and unread you are.
All you probably read is the Dailymail and have orgasms when someone talks about the "Religion of Peace". I'd suggest you stop browsing Youporn for a day and read a bit about "Interpretation of Religion".

Cleetus is right. The greatest tyrannies in history mandated atheism. Not that atheism is evil, it is just that human beings are apt to greed, vanity, hate, and the rest of it. We feel the gravitational pull of evil at all times. Blaming external agencies (church, school, drugs, banks, whatever) is just self deception.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostRead the Gulag Archipelago by Solzhenitsyn, and find out how atheistic ideology was "used to control, con, murder, rape and torture innocent people". Then go and read a few history books about what happened in China under Mao and under the Gang of Four. While you're at it, throw in some study on Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge.
Compare and contrast with, e.g. ISIS, the Inquisition and the Crusades. You should, unless you're blinded by your knee-jerk irrational hatred of religion, come to the conclusion that common factor in evil deeds is not religion, rather "humanity".
Then go an watch "The Stranger on the Bridge" to restore some balance.
Add "Nineteen Eighty Four", "Lord of the Flies" to the reading list, and that abominable horror story "Brave new World".Comment

They mandated Atheism because they wanted the people to see the leaders as deities. I have read all these books and they are all fiction, unlike the real history of Christianity.Originally posted by unixman View PostCleetus is right. Is that the one written by Bronze Age shepherds and nomads with no education.Originally posted by Unix View Postthe real history of Christianity.I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. I was hoping he has the ISBN. I've got a book called "the history of Christianity" but it doesn't explicitly claim to be the REAL history so presumably it's not.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

This should get you started, something more recent but no less awful, work back from there.Originally posted by GlenW View PostIs that the one written by Bronze Age shepherds and nomads with no education.

Given that the vast majority of pedophiles do not work for the Catholic church, and are not even catholics, what exactly is your point?Originally posted by Unix View PostThis should get you started, something more recent but no less awful, work back from there.
