I thought I'd throw some more flames into keeping the earth warmer...

    1988...
"For generations, we have assumed that the efforts of mankind would leave the fundamental equilibrium of the world's systems and atmosphere stable. But it is possible that with all these enormous changes (population, agricultural, use of fossil fuels) concentrated into such a short period of time, we have unwittingly begun a massive experiment with the system of this planet itself."
    1989...
"What we are now doing to the world … is new in the experience of the Earth. It is mankind and his activities that are changing the environment of our planet in damaging and dangerous ways. The result is that change in future is likely to be more fundamental and more widespread than anything we have known hitherto. Change to the sea around us, change to the atmosphere above, leading in turn to change in the world's climate, which could alter the way we live in the most fundamental way of all.

"The environmental challenge that confronts the whole world demands an equivalent response from the whole world. Every country will be affected and no one can opt out. Those countries who are industrialised must contribute more to help those who are not."
The Right Honorable The Lady Thatcher

This has been going on long enough.

Forget graphs, forget scientist spouting arguments one way or the other.

Can anyone show me clear evidence of the effects of global warming/climate change/ whatever it is we are supposed to be getting so worried about?

And by evidence I mean a picture I can see?

And photographs incontrovertibly demonstrating the expansion of the universe, evolution, and [non-]existence of aliens too please. Expecting us to have enough education to understand these topics is unfair.

From a hearing in the US congress

            http://udithcurry.com/2015/05/05/follow-up-questions-re-my-recent-house-testimony/#more-18620

If you believe the climate models, then President Obama’s INDC commitment (total of 80% emissions reduction by 2015), then warming would be reduced by 0.011 degrees Centigrade, a number that was provided to me by Chip Knappenberger of CATO using the MAGICC model with an equilibrium climate sensitivity of 3.0oC 0.02°C Temperature Rise Averted: The Vital Number Missing from the EPA. If the climate models are indeed running too hot, then the warming would be reduced by an even smaller number.
Lets go back to the stone age so we can do this!!

As a practical experiment at home you can change your thermostat by 0.011 degrees and see what difference it makes.

I saw this in a Leicester market last weekend:

What more proof do you need?

                Strange point of view.

If climate change is real then we should be experiencing it.

Expansion of the Universe and Evolution are provable given certain hypothesis.

Aliens - whether they exist or not are at present speculation.

But each to their own I assume.

Also no one is saying I should be paying more tax to stop the Expansion of the Universe or Evolution - which is kinda the point?

                No?

                  There's a whole book

Going beyond the headlines, this work by leading NASA climate scientist Gavin Schmidt and master photographer Joshua Wolfe illustrates as never before the ramifications of shifting climate. Photographic spreads show retreating glaciers, sinking villages in Alaska's tundra, and drying lakes. The text follows adventurous scientists through the ice caps at the poles to the coral reefs of the tropical seas. Marshaling data spanning centuries and continents, the book sparkles with cutting-edge research and visual records, including contributions from experts on atmospheric science, oceanography, paleoclimatology, technology, politics, and the polar regions

                    Here's the proof:

Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past - Environment - The Independent

                    Unquestionable scientific fact:

David Parker, at the Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research in Berkshire, says ultimately, British children could have only virtual experience of snow. Via the internet, they might wonder at polar scenes - or eventually "feel" virtual cold.

I know that quoting single sentences from 15 year old 'rent-a-quote' opinion pieces is what counts as debate around here, however back in 2010, we did not know how fast the Arctic ice would decline, nor what effect this would have on the atmospheric flows that govern UK climate. In 2012 a study was published …

While the Arctic region has been warming strongly in recent decades, anomalously large snowfall in recent winters has affected large parts of North America, Europe, and East Asia. Here we demonstrate that the decrease in autumn Arctic sea ice area is linked to changes in the winter Northern Hemisphere atmospheric circulation that have some resemblance to the negative phase of the winter Arctic Oscillation. […] This circulation change results in more frequent episodes of blocking patterns that lead to increased cold surges over large parts of northern continents. Moreover, the increase in atmospheric water vapor content in the Arctic region during late autumn and winter driven locally by the reduction of sea ice provides enhanced moisture sources, supporting increased heavy snowfall in Europe during early winter, and the northeastern and mid-west United States during winter. We conclude that the recent decline of Arctic sea ice has played a critical role in recent cold and snowy winters.

Its from BB's favourite climate scientist, so it must be true ...
