Isn't that what happened with Hong Kong?

What's the point of being at odds with another country about some rock that is just off their coast but thousands of miles away from us? It can be amicable and the residents would still have full UK rights. We could even have an embassy there.

The north sea will continue to provide oil for another 100 years, twice as long as previous estimates, according to industry analysts.
I think we need to add a corollary to Godwin's Law:

Where a discussion takes place on a UK forum, then that discussion will sooner or later involve the question of Scottish independence.

Err, Hong Kong was handed back after the lease expired. Tell me how this is the same.

And re-reading your post, and remembering that Scotland tried to give away the Shetlands to Denmark, perhaps you shouldn't be in the Union.

No way! We still want rid of the Scots hangers on. Let alone taking on more....

Doesn't mean you've won, just that you can't argue on topic.

I think the lease on Las Malvinas has expired as well

We leased Hong Kong from China, the lease was coming to and end so we amicably agreed to hand it over

That's not the same as another country asking you to give up some territory where they have even less right to it than you
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.
