    Yes - not sure what the actual rules are but I'm pretty bad uncorrected and I was fine. I was too bad for RAF aircrew though

    I dont think civilian stuff cares about uncorrected eyesight, so long as your corrected vision meets the min.

        Speak to Cliphead and HyperD I think both have a lot of experience in flying.

          I flew to the Caribbean a few times. It makes your arms ache though.

            Who on here has got the license? How long did it take, any advice?
            Couple of things.

            1) why isn't TykeTwat here to accuse you of fantasist bollocks?
            2) i always wanted you to die in a flying accident

                Been there, done that.
                It's the time one needs for mastering the theory enough to pass the exams that I couldn't manage alongside IT work.. Plus it's an expensive hobby to pursue so a long holiday followed by some bench time meant suspension of my flying school membership.
                I'll probably read the Trevor Thom series of books first and pass some exams first before renewing my membership and doing a few more hours of flying.
                One needs to at least pass the air law and navigation exams before being allowed to fly solo and a lot more exams to get the full licence.

                  Are the exams quite lengthy then?

                    The number of exams and the study required to take them is high. Never sat in an actual exam so not sure how lengthy they are.
                    Flying training schools do conduct classroom courses to help prepare for them or you can self study.

                      I did have a license but lost it when I started going blind. It's been a long time since I did the exams etc and the curriculum has changed over the years, these were the recommended books at the time but may be obsolete now;

                      Amazon.co.uk: birch and bramson: Books

                      No matter, hit the books as others have said. What are you training on?
