No wonder he wants it to be free.

There was an even better one last week from his deputy, when criticised for using an English printing firm for the Scottish Labour campaign leaflets, she retorted with a quip about the Scottish Government using foreign steel to build the new forth road bridge. Mad cow !

That's lost on me...is there a new one? Is it concrete like the old one? Or was she thinking the railway bridge was a replacement for the suspension jobbie?

Whatever, it's reminded me of the time in a meeting someone likened their current task to painting the Forth road bridge

He only wants it to be free now there's an election on. When he was in Blair's government he voted for student fees.

BBC News - Profile: Jim Murphy, Scottish Labour leader

And then there's his past as a "Blairite" politician who backed controversial policies such as the Iraq War and student fees - although Mr Murphy himself says "New Labour" is a 20-year-old tag, now consigned to history.

As well as going to Uni for 9 years (free on a student grant back then) without graduating, there's also talk of his time in South Africa. It's said he left at 18 to come back to Scotland to avoid being conscripted but it has been shown that conscription was for 16-18 year olds and he might have actually served in the apartheid army and tried to cover it up.

He is also pro-Israel and is a member of the right wing Henry Jackson society.

Yes, the new one will be finished on time and under budget with the surplus money going towards upgrading the A9 to dual carriageway. Some concrete involved but mostly steel. There was a good programme on up here about how they put it together.

ScotLab leaflets were printed in Essex so someone pointed out why when there are lots of local printers could do with the work. She tweeted "Dear SNP activists moaning about labour leaflets being printed in England, you're building a Scottish bridge with Chinese steel. Love Kez"

It was pointed out to here that the last steelworks in Scotland at Ravenscraig were closed by Thatcher and the resultant wasteland hasn't been put to use by the sitting Labour MP. The bridge uses a type of steel that wasn't produced in Scotland anyway.

Oh aye, and there won't be any tolls on it either
