Iain Duncan Smith today ramped up the row over tax avoidance by claiming that Ed Miliband "seems to have managed to avoid tax".
The Work and Pensions Secretary's comments relate to claims that Mr Miliband took advantage of a 'deed of variation' to reduce the inheritance tax on his parents' house.
Speaking to BBC News he said: "Labour...are completely at odds with each other and can’t seem to get their lines right, whether it’s on the health service or whether it’s on people who pay tax, let alone the man who runs the Labour party who seems to have managed to avoid tax as well."
It follows another front bench war of words between Ed Balls and George Osborne, with the Shadow Chancellor accusing his opposite number of having "brushed under the carpet" questions surrounding HSBC and the appointment of former chairman Lord Green as a Trade Minister.
