    Snow! Chaos! Disruption! Armageddon!

    All papers:

    Couple of millimetres of snow.

    Country at a standstill!

Chaos! Disruption! Health and Safety! Close all public offices!

End of the world is nigh!
<Insert idea here> will never be adopted because the politicians are in the pockets of the banks!

    Couple of millimetres?
We've got 2 and 3ft drifts. It's currently chucking it down again.
I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]

Maybe now global warming is over (allegedly) everyone should be forced to learn to drive on ice to pass their test.

I get that people not used to ice find it treacherous - and really it doesn't take a lot, if it's icy it's icy - but how airports struggle I don't understand. We're shortly flying to Helsinki and then to the Arctic (literally) north. Not only do they have temperatures way below zero for months on end but it snows a lot, and planes don't seem to care.
Do they adapt planes/airports in some way to land in icy conditions?

They have millions $ worth of equipment because there is a clear year on year RoI. We wouldn't have the same RoI, hence no investment.

The solution to this catastrophe is not to read the papers. Then you'll find out that that life continues as normal. Only a little colder. But then again it is "winter".

And not bother watching the news...

Actually, eject the TV all together!

Indeed, why spend on equipment when it's possible not to spend it and give yourself a nice bonus for saving money?
