Cheap, luxury, big, 5.0 TDI grunt, what's not to like?
It's a seriously crap car to drive. Best avoided if you have fillings...

I would have thought a Forester Turbo has a hard suspension, and a VW jumbo 4x4 a soft ride?

I had one and was ok. Fuel was crap.

          Plebs
I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]

The Touraeg (at least the earlier model, not the current one which is a lot better) is not so much hard as under-damped, so crashes through everything. Foresters are very nimble; after all, underneath it's basically a rally Impreza with long-travel suspension. I had an XTEn for three years, never went wrong, as quick as anything on the road in the real world and wonderfully relaxed to drive. Only real downside was fuel (low 20s the way I drove it) and road tax (same as a Range Rover - and the Toureg, come to that...), and it had all the toys. Not perfect by any means, especially compared to modern kit, but seriously good.

Many thanks for the replies so far.

WHat do the congeregation think of this ?

A Jeep Grand Cherokee Station Wagon for £600?

Looks like a good deal to my untutored eye, although at 17 MPG it's rather a gas guzzler.

Well it's somewhat less than £12,000 so ticks that box.

I'm wondering if the first service would push it over the £12K mark

I'm biased towards the Land Cruiser, I paid £3.5k 5 years ago, only done a quick search but they seem to be holding their value.
