Decent sturdy four wheel drive for under about £12K
Oh FFS, how about to get some proper attitude - decide which car you'd really like to get, then take a note of the price and work hard to get what you like. Set some proper goals in life FFS, £12k was my first car - Peugeot 307 HDI!

How long until you can afford the Russian mail order bride?
I'm thinking of going for a four-wheel drive vehicle like a Landrover or Range Rover or some such 4 wheel drive model.
Without a shadow of a doubt, get a Toyota Landcruiser Colorado. Mine has done 179,000 miles (I've had it for past 5 years/50k miles) and it's just flown through it's MOT (again). How many 17 year old cars can you say that about. It's used daily, kept on the road with reactive maintenance only (aside from oil changes and oil sprays underneath).
Car history:
Ford Escort Mk.4 (1st car)
Hilux Mk. 2 (Good but Impractical as only 2 seats)
Land Cruiser Amazon (80 series) developed nasty knocking from Crankshaft, £3k engine rebuild later, then 12 months after that, started doing same thing.
Peugeot 307 - Got stuck in a muddy festival field for 5+ hours, so bought a..
Toyota Land Cruiser Colorado (90 series).
Never looked back, although it hasn't got as much 'road presence' as the Amazon, I think the engine (3.0L Diesel "1KZ-TE") is a lot more reliable and always starts instantly (no cranking) no matter how cold. Absolutely bomb-proof.

"I hope this victory brings down this failed project and leads us to a Europe of sovereign nation states, trading together, being friends together, cooperating together, and let's get rid of the flag, the anthem, Brussels, and all that has gone wrong."
