I once saw a documentary. Docs were so keen to harvest organs as early as possible, patients were still alive when they were doing it. Some were aware but unable to respond, appeared dead. Somehow they survived (the docs noticed they moved a toe slightly or whatever, I don't remember) and came on the program to talk about it.

That's a sketch from Monty Python's Meaning of Life.

Next you'll be saying you don't want crucifixion.

I probably should get their views on what they want in the event of their untimely departures, when they were kids it was a decision I would have made.

Didn't they make it an opt out rather than opt in a while back or was that just a proposal?
Still opt in, sadly. I like the FAQs on this site - some are quite funny.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

No way. Just in case they end up being given to an immigrant.

Why wouldn't you want crucifixion? It's a doddle.

I would want to choose who gets my bits. I wouldn't want them going to unionists like minestrone soup

I think Scottish organs are fairly useless, except for keeping in jars since they're already pickled.

Yep, and I'm seriously considering a live kidney donation. The success rate is much better with live donors.

Cousin died of kidney disease, so it's one that's close to me, although in some ways that puts me off - I can imagine my aunt being a bit miffed if I donated one to a stranger and hadn't offered one to my cousin...
