The few times anyone at client co were to comment about contractors rates I just brush it off with "That's what the consultancy/agency gets".Comment

No I didnt start this thread.
I've met all sorts in the last few years. Some places you wouldnt even be able to tell who was a contractor and others theres clear divide and contractors even sit in their own little area.
Most permies I find are ok though.
Most are interested in how it all works etc. and you explain no pay for hols, sick, pension etc etc and I find most will then say sod that I'll stay perm. Fair enough then up to you.
Met a few who are convinced your earning shedloads are a waste of money as well. Usually find with these they start off with these ideas then usually actually twig you do know what your on about.
One client a while ago now was a bit off. All the permies seemed to watch contractors like a hawk to pick up what they were doing. Seemed to be a bit of a brownie point thing if you got to dob in a contractor. Really stupid things - they'd notice EXACTLY how long you had for lunch, how many phone calls per day you took, how often you mentioned non-work related stuff, and they'd constantly be looking over checking what web site you were on. Pathetic it was.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

It was a while ago. I think in the end I stuck it out and just declined the renewal. Better to keep your sanity.
Also, if I remember one of the team leaders did mention a few 'issues' and referred it upwards which peed me off a bit. But never heard a thing more about it and left not that long after.Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment
