It meant that within 8 hours of leaving previous clientco I had confirmation of current clientco.
I found them to be utter arseholes. They say they want to build their 'virtual bench.'

And while it maybe the case for the role you went for, given their overt pushyness whenever anyone from that agency had spoken to me, I cannot accept they only submit 1 candidate per role (in fact I know they dont).

It must be client or skill dependent than. Where I currently am that is definitely the case.

However if they had tried to get me on to a virtual bench, yes I would have told them to foxtrot alpha...

Except with many agents, you then got into a 'debate' that they wont accept your last agencies. Why open up an avenue for such?

Exactly, we've debated this a million times and even had tame agents tell us it is a pure 100% scam.

Yeah, I can see them pushing back on accepting an agency as reference...

There's no actual role so why care? It's just to rip of references, they are interested in you not one bit.

Jeez, wet behind the ears contractors, grow some.

Look, just say, "Let me get the role and then I'll help you out with leads." Once you're in it's up to you whether or not you throw them a bone.

I always tell them to contact the HR department of my last contract. I explain that the client does not allow its staff to provide refs; only HR can do this. And to be honest, this is often the case these days anyway.

Agencies I've been working with for some time never even ask for refs. In fact, I don't think I've ever given a ref for a role.
