Scotland can supply itself with renewables for some of the time.
Energy crisis warning after power imported from England | Herald Scotland

In other words it relies on England to provide electricity when the wind stops blowing.

Small countries like Denmark or Scotland can run on renewables as they just import coal based electricity from their neigbours.

Germany for example has to keep power stations on hot standby to secure the supply.

The only difference is Scotland imports from England.

But that's not the point, is it? What's clear is CO2 creates a greenhouse effect. The more of it there is the more heat is trapped on the surface. And this affects our weather. Now I don't give a monkeys if folks in the Somerset plains want to swim to work, I really don't. But I do care about our ability to survive climate change, manmade or not.

Learning to control out climate is going to be one of the most important things mankind can do and I expect it'll take about 100-200 years. This passive approach makes my skin crawl however.

Anyway, no point debating this with people who only ever live on a computer.
Half of Scotland is owned by 16 people, 3/4 of which are no even living in the country. The beautiful landscape you're so fond of might stay that way if land reform gets through.

The story in the Unionist Herald was another scare story in the run up to the indyref.

Scotland is not a net importer, however.

Regarding the 'only when the wind blows' argument. If I had a penny for every time that was made.. We can watch the TV on windy days, what's wrong with that? In the summer I should be outside enjoying the fresh air anyways.

Clearly you've never been to Scotland, the windiest region of Europe.

Says who? the same people that claimed the polar caps are melting irreversibly and the water levels will rise 1m+ in 20 years, like 20 years ago?

The entire C02 scaremongering is so the selected few can keep lining their pockets with government subsidies, while the tax payers are cheering them for the salvation of the human race...
