    France (and Belgium) yes, it is a national holiday. They have the blue cornflower - Bleuet de France - as opposed to the poppy.

    Germany, no not on 11/11 anyway. They have Volkstrauertag on diff date.

        A poor excuse. Most people have smartphones with built in reminder functionality they use daily for "Drinks after work" type reminders.

          : I completely missed it last year - lost track of time.

          Year before they sounded the fire alarm, so it was easy to observe.

              Our CEO gave a speech, then we had 2 minutes silence finished off with a bugler playing The Last Post.

              Very poignant and I think anyone who has died for their country deserves to be remember and treated with respect regardless of the political reasons they were fighting.
