I can recommend The Golden Pass train through Switzerland. From Montreux to Lucerne via Interlaken. In Winter it is truly stunning.
First class, sat at the front of the train, driver upstairs. Amazing.Comment

I would like to recommend the Bejing to Lhasa train.
It's a very modern line, and given how it's built on permafrost, it can literally melt away so I don't expect it to be operation for very long.
A truly unique experience IMO, the highest station is 5kms above the sea level.
For a bit of contrast, the train going in the other direction is the MAGLEV to Shanghai, going at 420km/hComment
