Today I was enquiring of a local farmer why one of his cows had a nose ring with spikes hanging off it.
Apparently the cow was a milk thief, continuing to nick milk from any cow around, not necessarily its mum, after weaning.
The spikes on the ring tickle the victim cows in the udder department so they notice and won't let the milk thief near.
