Indeed, pretty much an identity cult.

The rise of the UKIP is partially due to the Conservatives ignoring their core votes in order to 'chase the middle' and grab the swing voters that decide elections.
Hopefully ed's antics will cause a similar left-wing party to pop up. I wouldn't agree with their policies, but I would be more content with our political system if it had 5 or 6 frontline parties and true representation for every person in the country.
Left wing loonies need to be represented as well as right wing nut-jobs!Comment

They're in favour of what will get them enough votes to get into power, at which point they will totally ignore any promises, policies that don't suit their internal agenda and any pretence that the electorate matters at all until the run up to the next election.Originally posted by d000hg View PostI thought Milliband/Labour were fundamentally opposed to monkeying with the EU and preferred MORE integration/compliance, reducing our 'renegade' status?Comment

Brown signed the Lisbon Treaty in secret despite widespread unease about it, reneging on a promise of a referendum on it.Originally posted by d000hg View PostI thought Milliband/Labour were fundamentally opposed to monkeying with the EU and preferred MORE integration/compliance, reducing our 'renegade' status?
Mind you, if it weren't for UKIP I wonder whether Cameron wouldn't do the same thing today.Comment
