So all the nutters are... nutters. Glad that's cleared up.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostIt was a convert.
All the nutters are brain washed converts, or those who were born into the religion, completely uninterested and then suddenly get brain washed.
If Malala is in danger in her home country, then it is entirely proper for the UK to offer a place of safety. The fact that there some immigrants are less deserving doesn't change that one iota.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Nonsense. We must invade them and impose democracy.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostIf Malala is in danger in her home country, then it is entirely proper for the UK to offer a place of safety. The fact that there some immigrants are less deserving doesn't change that one iota.

I think that there are mentally unstable people who somehow are convinced to convert. I don't know why that happens but it seems to happen in the UK as well. I don't know if its because they think Islam will sort them out, or that the person is so nuts they'll believe anything and go out there and create havoc.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostIt was a convert.

These terrorists are not very good at shooting people in the head. Maybe we could send some of our armed police to train them? Or are they just good against Brazilians?Comment

Maybe there is a link between extremism and conversion, although I'd suggest that brainwashing is not the real issue. It is not that extremists are somehow influencing normal people but rather that desperate people are voluntarily embracing something to an exceptional degree in order to find some meaning in their awful lives. If there is any "brainwashing" they are mostly doing it to themselves. All the nutters are brain washed converts
Not one who regards personal experience as valid argument but, for what it's worth, those I have known who have suddenly made religion a central part of their lives have all had some serious mental problems or gone through very stressful periods in their lives.
