    just reading a book Fred 2.0 free on Kindle.

    quite good.

    Now not entirely convinced its the be all and all but it seems like a good basis for life. i.e. be nice to people because its good for your own self respect.

    now I get up every morning and I'm glad I was born in a rich country and I put the effort in. Sometimes people surprise me good or bad.

        If you can keep your head when all about you
        Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
        If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
        But make allowance for their doubting too;
        If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
        Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
        Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
        And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

        If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
        If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
        If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
        And treat those two impostors just the same;
        If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
        Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
        Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
        And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

        If you can make one heap of all your winnings
        And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
        And lose, and start again at your beginnings
        And never breathe a word about your loss;
        If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
        To serve your turn long after they are gone,
        And so hold on when there is nothing in you
        Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

        If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
        Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
        If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
        If all men count with you, but none too much;
        If you can fill the unforgiving minute
        With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
        Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
        And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

              I work hard compared to some but there are others who work harder than me. Plenty of them are less successful too. I work as hard as I need to work to meet my objectives.

              I treat people well because I like being nice to people.

                Oh Suity man.

                They peddle that bollox to the young and naïve because if the truth came out there would be a riot.

                And then when realisation finally dawns on you the spark of life to fight the system has been ground out of you.

                They do not want you to be educated they want you to conform.

                  Now the context of this question is simple.

                  As I am approaching middle age, certain truths that I knew to be true are turning out to be lies.

                  I knew that if you worked hard, tried your best you would always end up doing ok. Hard work was in itself a reward.

                  I also knew that if you treat others as you wish to be treated then also you would be ok. This again is a reward in itself.

                  This past few years I have noted that it matters not 1 **** how hard you work, you stand as much chance of getting shafted as much as the next guy.

                  This past few years I also note that it doesn't matter 1 **** how well you treat people, you stand as much chance of getting shafted as the next guy.

                  So what's the ******* point in working hard and treating people well? You're only going to end up getting ******* shafted in the end any ******* ways.
                  Shaft them before they shaft you then!
