Didn't WW2 escalate into a nuclear war from conventional? Also, isn't that the only time they were used in war?Originally posted by Churchill View PostNuclear weapons are a weapon that is only effective against people, predominantly civilians.
Conventional war does not escalate into Nuclear. You start with Nuclear if you're going to use them at all.Comment

The funny thing is I never suggested IS should not be attacked. What I have said is just the blatant truth regarding the region namely the western policy towards Saudi and Qatar who hand out the same books that IS do.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostClearly not the same one as you. I suggest you check your history and see how wars escalate.
There are so many people who think they are so clever by making facile ill informed sweeping statements whilst other people have to get on with the job of keeping you in your riches.
It's a shame that we continue to live well while the wealth of the region is plundered.Comment

No it didn't - I suggest you read "Command and Control" by Eric Schlosser for background and an insight into war fighting with Nuclear Weapons and the WW2 conventional bombing campaigns.Originally posted by MyUserName View PostDidn't WW2 escalate into a nuclear war from conventional? The use of those weapons did not constitute a step change to nuclear war, the weapons were treated as very powerful weapons in their own right. Nuclear war as a concept didn't exist at the time, the bombs were just another secret weapon in the US arsenal.Originally posted by minestrone View PostI think Churchill is talking tulip again.Comment
