I think it's a bit of a stretch (to put it mildly) to suggest that - IIRC the Conservative Frontbench at the time were all in favour of it as well and there weren't many Scots in that mob. Robin Cook (a Scot) resigned from the Front Bench over it. Let's not get all revisionist about this DA - even though I suspect you are just trying to be "controversial".Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostIt was the Scots that took us to an "illegal war" and it was the Scots that made the economy go bust. As Scots made up a disproportionate number of the cabinet during the years of Blair government then It is fair to conclude they were acting in the interests of Scotland.

So, facts are irrelevant in your arguments. LMFAOOriginally posted by DodgyAgent View PostBlair is Scottish and RBS is and was Scottish run by a Scot from Scotland. the fact that most of their business was in the UK is irrelevant. Lots of publicly school educated Scots don't have Scottish accents.Originally posted by Batcher View PostCouldn't you tell by his thick Scottish accent?
I was p*ssed when I went to university to discover the only people who had some form of regional accent were educated in the state school system. Public schools purposely educate the accent out of people."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

That is as maybe but when the Scots start whining about wanting to get away from a Westminster government that took them into an "illegal war" I simply wish to point out that it was the Scottish influence that led this.Originally posted by Runs With Scissors View PostI think it's a bit of a stretch (to put it mildly) to suggest that - IIRC the Conservative Frontbench at the time were all in favour of it as well and there weren't many Scots in that mob.
