You forgot the obligatory Scottish Independence angle...

I am not talking about a politician who claims to be able to win independence for his country
I am talking about a politician who claims that his countrymen will also attain untold riches

I haven't made any money, so your concern is a big lie!

No. I wouldn't want anybody mistaking me for somebody who knows what they're doing. Far too much responsibility

Could you give an example of the sort of scale you are referring to?

I joined a consultancy in the US and was put forward for a role I clearly didn't have the background to do. My CV was sent to the consulting manager who said "There is no way the client will accept you on the basis of this CV. Change it".

So I bent the truth sufficiently for the client to agree to give me a go. "And anyway", said the consulting manager, "the first two weeks are training".

I moved out west to join the project. The consulting manager showed me to my desk, piled high with OHP slides. I was giving the training.

It went as badly as you might imagine. The pain, it will always be with me. So nowadays I only lie a bit.

MF once got a suspended sentence for neglecting to tell clients about his social disease. Does that count?

Only if you fess up to your clients about that 'minor' surgery you had in Thailand
