Why don't you vote for a party who will curb non essential spending and council spending then, and use that money to fund the 'free' things listed above.

That's what happened in Scotland. Priorities were set, some budgets lost out, some budgets won, but the overall budget didn't change.

In 2012/13, public spending per head in the UK as a whole was £8,788.
In England, it was £8,529 (3% below the UK average). This compares with:
 Scotland: £10,152 (16% above the UK average)
 Wales: £9,709 (10% above the UK average)
 Northern Ireland £10,876 (24% above the UK average).

So the average Scot gets £1623 per head more than the average English voter.

If we had that money I'm sure we could have free further education and free personal care. As we don't have that addition £1623 we have to pay for it ourselves...

You would also find that public spending per head in England varies wildly by location as well. Some will be on a par with the Scottish average, some will be less. Should the north east or Yorkshire for that matter have their spending reduced based on the fact that it's less in Somerset ?

I think you will find that most people expect the Barnett formula to be rewritten even if the vote is no. Even Joel Barnett believes it should have been changed years ago as it was merely a short term measure
