New take on the "I just just need 2 references" approach to leads

So the other day I got an email from an agent that I've had some contact in the past with asking if I could help out a follow contractor. (Appears to be a mass mailing)

The jist of the email goes as follows

I'm keen to ask a massive favour. One of my contractors, XXXXXX, has been unexpectedly terminated with immediate effect with one of my clients in XXXXXXX due to the project suddenly been changed.

They are desperate for some contract work to keep their bills ticking over as this was really unexpected, and I thought to ask you if you know anyone recruiting, any places you've interviewed before and now not pursuing or anywhere you are now/have worked before you think would be interested in them?

    Their skill set is:
    - XXXXX
    - XXXXX
    - XXXXX
    - XXXXX
    - Met on multiple occasions and referenced

They are flexible on rate and will work anywhere in the UK.

It would be whether it's made-up or not.

Look up the contractor on LinkedIn to see his status. Ask him about it and if he knows the agency are naming him in an email.
