I had heard that to northern Germans, people speaking "Swiss German" sound like semi-retarded country bumpkins. This was from a mate of mine whose mother was Swiss, so he spoke German with the same Swiss accent.I'm Spartacus. -
This is partly true. However there is a huge difference between Swiss German (which is a bunch of dialects that I don't speak any of, though I can understand Basel dialect - it's like standard German with a Birmingham accent), and German with a Swiss accent. Someone speaking one of the Swiss dialects will definitely sound like a retarded country bumpkin. Speaking proper German with a Swiss accent sounds like an educated country bumpkin.Originally posted by Spartacus View PostI had heard that to northern Germans, people speaking "Swiss German" sound like semi-retarded country bumpkins. Basel dialect: I' ha' kchi' Aaanick.
German: Ich habe keine Ahnung.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment
