Yes I reckon decapitation probably won't work as the next in line will simply take over, and they'll simply doing what they've always done, develop a nuclear capability and to hell with the consequences.
    I'm alright Jack

China does not want South Korea(which in their terms is the USA) on their border. No-one in China wants to escape into NK - they might into SK. And then there is the military threat.

122 million Chinese travelled abroad last year, so I don't think the 'escaping over the border' thing holds up like it used to in iron / bamboo curtain days.

Chinese Outbound Tourism Statistics in 2016: 122 Million Chinese Tourists Make Outbound Trips, Spend $109.8 Billion-World Travel Online

The outbound controls of repressive states have been replaced by the inbound immigration controls of desirable countries (by and large - DPRK excepted of course).

Naturally everyone is currently focused on North Korea. But could the WW3 trigger come from left field?

2017-08-16 Indian, Chinese Soldiers Clash Following Alleged Chinese "Incursion"

According to local media reports, "Indian and Chinese soldiers were involved in an altercation" in the western Himalayas on Tuesday, further raising tensions between the two countries. "There was an altercation near the Pangong lake," said a police officer in Srinagar, following what he called a Chinese army "incursion in Pangong lake area".

Certainly would be nice if China and India went to war. We would onshore our manufacturing and IT industries. Everyones a winner - apart from the establishment.

Some interesting analysis going on for the likeliest outcomes

India has the biggest surface fleet so would probably blockade China = cheap tat shortages

China has lots of non nuclear missile so would lob them at strategic Indian targets =there goes your datacentre!

Pakistan is an ally of China so would probably make mischief and if caught out and triggered an Indian response could as always stated use its nuclear capability to even up the odds in which case Indian "no first strike policy" would be negated and things could get hot

Doesn't India have nukes now? Paid for with UK overseas aid?

There are no winners in a Nuclear War.
