I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. Surely Hamas just have to stop firing rockets?

You know as well as anyone that they would not. The problem you lot have with this is that it undermines your twisted moral equivalence view of the arab israeli conflict. The Israelis want peace. they have a civilised democratic system of government and a modern economy. They do not want war. Gaza could become a prosperous city with all the subsidies it could get if it wanted peace. The Palestinians want a state of permanent war. The Israelis do not.Originally posted by lilelvis2000 View PostIf the arabs put down their weapons they'd get put on trucks and dumped in the Jordan river.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

Its a quasi-democracy really and their economy is highly subsidised by the west. The Israeli's keep voting for the right who want to clear the land of arabs and take the land over. So I'm sure the Israeli's want peace, just not with the Palestinians.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostYou know as well as anyone that they would not. If the Israelis want peace they would be kicking people out of their houses to bomb them and threatening to start a land offensive? You don't get peace by starting a fight with someone....Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostYou know as well as anyone that they would not. I think that you forget that there are 1.7 million Arab citizens of Israel with the same democratic rights as any other citizen? It's not a quasi democracy by any means. Israelis aren't all Jews by the same token that all English aren't Christian.Originally posted by lilelvis2000 View PostIts a quasi-democracy really and their economy is highly subsidised by the west. Only on land they took when Syria/Jordan/Egypt launched unprovoked attacks.Originally posted by SpontaneousOrder View PostHe missed the part about bulldozing houses.
If the Arab world had really wanted a Palestinian state they would have set it up when they controlled the land. If they really cared about the Palestinian people, they wouldn't have closed their borders to them.
Hamas is in a pickle. With ISIS kicking off, the Syrian civil war, Iran turning their back on them, and Egypt turfing out the Muslim Brotherhood, they've really got few friends left. Their only hope is that they can benefit from the unity that stoking hatred of Israel might bring.
btw - another difference between Israel and Gaza. You can speak out against what Israel does, in Israel. Don't try speaking out against Hamas too loudly in Gaza...
I really feel sorry for the Palestinians. Not only do they suffer from the restrictions and oppression they get from Israel, they also suffer from living with Islamists implementing their version of Sharia.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

If we conveniently forget the British mandate, Suez, etc, etc.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostOnly on land they took when Syria/Jordan/Egypt launched unprovoked attacks.
If we do that then they are ONLY bulldozing homes of people - who probably weren't even born then - on land that was taken from a state which didn't exist 20 years earlier. So that's cool then.Comment

Non-Jews in Israel are de facto second-class citizens. The arab towns in Israel lack some basic facilities, like a health centre. The police treat arabs poorly, there are many cases of police beatings of arabs. Many many cases of 'Price Tag' attacks with zero arrests. Arabs have the right to vote, not much more really.Originally posted by Scruff View PostI think that you forget that there are 1.7 million Arab citizens of Israel with the same democratic rights as any other citizen?
