the point being made was people are trying to justify it nowadays. Also in the modern world many cultures still do it, with Muslims prominent in the practice.

1/3rd of the imans asked FFS.

when you start looking at the countries its common and by which religions propose it then you start understanding why Islam needs to change in this area.

Nope as there is no firm evidence but lots of opinion from various scholars e.g. 9, 12, 19

I know from what happened to Henry VII's mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort, the girl was suppose to have completely gone through puberty before the marriage was consummated. Husbands' tended to want their wife alive to bear lots of children and not die when having the first one.

King John's second wife was probably about nine years old when they married.

Interestedly they now claim she was 12 when she was married. Either way she was around 19 when she had her first child.

Lady Margaret Beaufort was 13 when she had Henry VII. The nobles where all horrified.

People forget now that both women and their babies die from child birth. The younger or older you are the more likely it is......

Most of the DM commenters seem to be of the opinion that they should be cut adrift.

Don't really know what I think. I have no sympathy for them whatsoever but, that said, they are only 16.

Perhaps a secret family court will sit in absentia and declare that the parents have been negligent and order the girls into foster care when they return .
