Best strategy for getting a contract?

Hey,

Let's say i have my CV on Jobserve and similar sites. CV explicitly states that I'm looking for contracting, so there sould be no missunderstanding.

Which do you think is the more effective strategy?

1. Applying for as many jobs as possible that matches my skills.
2. Just wait until agents find you with offers.

I started doing both a month ago, but traffic is less than what is expected.

Both. Apply for the contracts that are there, that you want to do, and that you have the skills for. If an agent contacts you about roles that you haven't seen, then discuss those with the agent.

Sounds like there is something which deters the agents. Which has already been discussed in your other thread about this topic.

Yeah, the phone number issue is already fixed.
No improvement yet, but maybe i'm just a little bit unpatient.

Both will usually happen simultaneously. Applying for stuff on, eg, JobServe, your CV will be available to other rectruiters.

I usually apply 4-5 per week, and thought that would yield at least 1 or 2 interview.

TBF, the Swiss can be quite slow, I had one drag on for nearly a year before it totally disappeared!

Sadly, this is not the case.

It depends on the market that you are looking to work in. If there are only five roles a week coming available, and there are only a handful of people that can do them, then you would expect to be getting interviews. If there are only five roles a week and there are a thousand applications, then you need to make sure you are one of the fifteen people that are likely to get picked.

Five a week sounds pretty low to me, but others may well differ.
