missed mortgage payment and employment screening?

Hi, ive been accepted for risk management consultancy who provide bodies to uk banks. The consultancy do the pre employment screening. I work in information security.

In 30 yrs I never missed a payment on a mortgage until a few months ago. The payment was for an investment property. The letting agent failed to transfer funds into my account. I didn't notice and until I received a letter from the bank.

Ive read that rbs have a zero tolerance policy and wondered if Lloyd s in particular are the same?

Am now concerned that this one off event has screwed things up for future contracts.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Cheers

I would be very surprised if this is a problem, even in a zero tolerance environment. You could request your credit score and see what it looks like on there.

They tend to check to see if people are at risk of abusing their systems to make ends meet or have debt/money management problems. It would be pretty harsh of them to penalise you for one missed payment. Hell, they ****ed up so badly not so long ago none of their customers could make a mortgage payment so they kinda directly cause people to miss payments beyond their control.

EDIT : You contracting or full time permie?

Will most likely be a basic credit check based on public records such as defaults and CCJs. Letting agents use the same checks.

Your missed payment will only show up during credit scoring performed by a lender when applying for a loan, credit card, payday loan, mortgage etc.

If you want to be double sure then phone up the screening company and ask what it is they check for. Or just call any one of the credit reference agencies, they will disclose what info is given out to employment screening companies.

Cheers lad. Contracting last four years. I get that the consultancy that wants me to work for them (contract basis) would want squeeky clean but would be well hacked off this one event was a deal breaker. Apart from this I have been a very good boy. The amount was around £245. I checked my credit score a year or so back and it was very healthy.

You should be less worried about the vetting and more worried that you're going to work at LLoyds
