Agencies that say they will forward you for a role and then don't

Had a well known London agency phone me up about a role and agree to send my CV off. Send the usual emails to say I'm happy for them to represent me etc.

Waited a few days because I know the client always sends an email to the candidate to get you to verify you want to apply and to add further details. Email never arrived. Contacted agency and asked them to confirm if they've sent off my details and get no answer.

So a day later look on client's website and can see I can apply for the role myself, did so and was requested to attend an interview that same day.

So apart from obviously not using this agency any more, anyone got any advice on how to verify the agents are forwarding me for roles and not, I assume, trying to prevent me from applying via another agency?

You should storm down to the agency and demand they send your CV.

        Or you could move on...

Just get the role then update your CV and oh don't forget to send a copy to said agency as soon as possible so they have a copy ready for when you finish there.

          Their loss....

This has always preyed on my mind

Another irritation is the agent who rings with a supposed job spec, but you're currently unavailable so give the name of someone who is looking. The agent showers you with thanks, but never calls the other person. Hmm.

This is out of order, they phone a couple more after you, think they are a better prospect for getting the role and you get shufflled onto the subs bench in case client asks for more or doesn't like first batch.
No need to ring contractor as - causes an argument they don't need, you might get another agency to put you in AND they might need you after all.
IF another agent phones I say yes, screwemandscarper have put me through but if they haven't you can, so they can check with client. Any time I have done this, the first agancy has always put me through but I am certain this does happen.

I've had similar things happen with 3 agents this week, and after reading the thousands of posts here saying "Agencies are liars" I just dont think much of it and move on.

Part of the game. Saying that if I hadn't got another contract quickly, the agent who decided not to tell me the result of a Skype interview might have received some harassment.
