    Agree.

Agencies remove all contact information from CVs before sending them to the client.

What a short sighted and rather patronizing viewpoint, if I got your CV I would base my opinion on its content and not the lack of address, your reasons for doing so?

I wouldn't trust anybody who is not confident with making their postal address known, especially if they have an ltd. Besides, it could be somebody from the competition trying to sneak in my business.

+1. Peter. The reason why agents don't reveal information is to ensure they keep their cut of money.

Mind you removing my contact details from my CV requires pulling out a lot of the content....

Need for postal address is just an old fashioned cv tradition. In this day and age it is really not necessary.

What 'trust' do you think you gain by funding out their address?

Somebody from the competition? They can't just put down a random address? How would you know?

That all said, nothing wrong with a company requiring 'local candidates only'. They may have thir opinions around staff, long hours, long travel etc.

But just dumping cv's because of a missing address is stupid.

                You can't be serious.

You knocking on my door, offering your services and I don't even know where you are located.

If there ever was a chance that this could be remotely acceptable in permieland, it makes no sense at all in contracting or freelancing.

It matters not, surely the contractor knows and by dint of applying also knows by said dint he can service the gig irrespective of location.

Unless, as I suspect, you are looking for an employee.

                  Next, please....

Your Cv is going to be scrutinized by some bimbo half your age and 1/10 of your working experience. Why make their life difficult by not writing your postal address?

What have you got to worry about? I can understand age, marital status, religious confession, gender, sexual orientation (I've seen this on Dutch/Belgian application forms) because this data could lend to discrimination, but a postal address?

I've used postal redirection services in the past. There are some nice Regent Street W1B addresses out there for less than £10 a month and chances are the agency uses the same service.

Even this is backwards. If anything, yes, maybe it is still important for permie roles (i was talking more aboutcontracting) as it is a bigger decision for a permie if they were to need to move for the role, or for the company if paying a relocation bonus.
