    Corporates v public sector

I've been contracting at blue chip corporates all my life and my next contract could working for a council. Any views on any potential culture shock?

    No.

Seriously, and as a very big generalisation, management will be less efficient but more dedicated, less skilled but more involved. Workers will vary from competent to totally inept, but totally unaware of the threat of discsiplinary action other than as a theoretical concept. Resources will be short and probably out of date. Work stops at five o'clock.

The big cultural problem I found is working with people whose career plans are set out over years to get a one-grade uplift. Don't ever mention money - they do not use salary as a measure of achievement.

Otherwise, there's less of a difference than you might think.
