I think the phone calls are basically to try and see if you are bulltulipting on your CV. It´s not that they have a clue about anything technical, but as one of them told me once "It´s about trying to get a feeling about the person" (that´s why they argue that their job can´t be automated).

They don't care if you bulltulip, I have even had agents ask me to amend my CV slightly to add in extra details to make me look more suitable for a role (not that I have ever added in flase information, I don't want to look like a c**t when it comes to interview/when I start the job)Comment
