Would you not use certain agencies?

I have read many times on here about people who would not touch certain agencies with a barge pole but if they had a job and you were looking/on bench would you really not apply for it if it was through that agency?

Its difficult when you on the bench so just wondered who actually does stick to this even when on the bench?

I have one agency on my "do not work" list. Utterly abysmal. I had to spend so much of my time chasing them for payment for every single invoice that it really was not worth the hassle of the role.

That said, that's not a hard "do not work" rule. If they offered me a massively over-priced role in a premium company then I'd work with them again but it'd be under no illusions that I want stronger payment terms and that I'd be dunning from day one of any missed payment.

Unfortunately it isn't a case of picking and choosing agents. They have won the right to fill a certain gig (might be a few of them but still...) so if you want that gig you have to go through that agent. I haven't yet had any of the problems we see on here from time to time but I would certainly be hard pressed to turn down a gig just because the agent is tulip. I would rather get some money and fight for the rest than say no thanks and re-bench myself... Saying that if I had a really bad experience I might just think otherwise... but until then... go for the gig every time.

I get infuriated with the communication issues with Bob agents, they seem to have the worst English speakers in those roles, so I just say no thanks especially knowing the rate is gonna be crap anyway...

Indeed there is one who I sued, for lack of payment, and no I didn't choose to work for them in the first place I was tuped, which impose the most absurd terms who I would never ever work for.

I don't even read their ads.

There are two that I won't work with
one tried to call me in the evening pretending they were the hiring manager of a company where I just had an interview (Made a rooky mistake a number of years ago telling the agency I was having an interview at Easyjet)
The other one tried to give me a contract in Belgium and recommended an accountant that was wanted by the serious fraud office.

So you would throw away the work based on a arguably dodgy, but much used sales tactic and the fact you would take a recommendation from an agent?
