Agencies should not be in control like this

Yes a price comparison site would wipe out the agents, do you have a vested interest in an agency or are you just threatened by people like me who speak the truth before you thought of it? -

No, you are just being very dim. I'll make it very simple for you.
It has already been thought of. By people who have set up a website called (wait for it...) contractorclub.co.uk - go and have a look -they'll love you over there.

It just seems my points about agencies are met with far more hostility than in the real world. Must wonder why.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostHaven't you been banned yet?

Nope. A contractor who has a good reputation.Originally posted by masonryan View PostVested interests?
No agent husband, no agent partner, no agent pimp."I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."

pimpmymeerkat.com ?Originally posted by masonryan View PostIt's well known agents sign up to forums like these to push ideas and defend their reputation when the truth comes out about their 'business' dealings. I say, let's put them out of business as they're ripping us all off. Middle-men are being removed everywhere else, why not recruiting also? May as well have a price comparison site of contractors for employers to approach.Doing the needful since 1827Comment

Do you find that many agencies tell you who the client is before you have agreed to be represented by them? Do you find many clients want to take people direct (particularly when they have found an agency to find people)?Originally posted by masonryan View PostAgencies rip us off in both the permie and contractor marketplace. Next time and agent calls about a contract, I will ask where it is, then I will say no thanks and contact the company personally to enquire.
Good luck with your alternative model. If it was truly viable, do you think that so many contractors would be using agencies in the first place?Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI hadn't really understood this 'pwned' expression until I read DirtyDog's post.Comment

Very much this - I think the majority of contractors are, begrudingly, happy with the service they get from agents; I know I am.Originally posted by DirtyDog View PostDo you find that many agencies tell you who the client is before you have agreed to be represented by them?
