    What goes on in Bath?

Got a call from my favourite agent, he is really good and doesn't lay it on, 60/40 chance on this one coming off, consultancy bidding for a gig, he's no idea who it is except it's in Bath.

I can't think, it's an AIX Unix Virtualisation role, project based so not BAU, any ideas who?

Any one of about 500 companies...? Bath isn't exactly a village.

Nice place but v expensive to stay in the city. I live there so if I can help with any info let me know - not in the IT business myself so not much use on that front though.

They tend to hide very well. I have hardly seen more than a few jobs come up. If they do, they tend to be appealing to 30k a year types.

There is very little IT in Bath. Ascentric are one company, some marketing company I forget the name of and the MOD. The IT roles that they do have generally pay well. Always baffled me how people can afford to live in Bath, it's very expensive.

If it is the MOD - which is unlikely now - most sites have been closed and built on in the Bath area - you'll be looking at the ATLAS consortium ..... Fujitsu/HP/Carillion ...... good luck if it is them ....

It took them 5 weeks to process a BPSS before I could get on site. Normally takes 3 days.

It's not an SC role - I have SC and specifically asked - no clearance required...

Fujitsu took six weeks for my BPSS and Project People five! all said it would be a week, I said over a month based on previous....

I think the biggest mortgage broker in the country is in Bath, unless someone else has overtaken them

                Although its a Bob shop

We all get on a train and come to London

There are some extremely well paid Architects for MOD but they are all tied up through a Body shop come Agency. Other than that everything I have ever seen is student money...
I am really missing an underground scene somewhere...

Go to LinkedIn. There are 1192 companies lsited with a Bath address. Some of them - Praxis, Logica, Screwfix - are quite big in technology; 70 have more than 200 employees.
