For a phone number make sure it's a mobile.

    You will:
    a. Not give away your location - most people including agents know the London dialling codes
    b. Not get rung up at stupid o'clock and have you whole household disturbed as you can turn it off.

I don't put my address on the CV. However, I do make it a point to have a return address on the envelope so agents know where I am applying from if need be.

Why not just fax the CV over?

I had a former colleague mock me the other week because my voicemail also accepts fax.

If your flight is cancelled or you are denied boarding, you are legally entitled to two messages to be sent. The legislation allows for a Telex, which is what I've asked BA to send in the past

I hadn't even thought about the uselessness of an address on my CV (I do currently have it on there). As for being excluded for not being local - I would rather it happen before I travel to an interview, rather than spending money on going and then being turned out due to where I live. In any case, every agent will ask "where are you based?".

As for London gigs... I live south of Reading, out in the sticks. My current CV has my address on it. I don't think agents care / bother looking up where you are as none I've spoken to have a clue where I live.

It has caused no issues with finding work - I've turned down a couple because the commute was awful (e.g. Gatwick Airport for a certain security company), but never knowingly been rejected. In fact, the majority of my work has been either central London or southwest suburbs. I wish I could get something in Reading, or somewhere closer to home, but no joy.

                      Surely not in Tadley!!!!!????

I do not have my address on my contractor CV, if it is important then the agent will ask anyway. If your cv is a good match they are not going to pass on someone because they do not have their address on their cv when they can easily ask it.
