Good Agencies, From the other point of view (Client)

    Hi guys,

Just wondering if anybody has had any dealings with agencies from the client side i.e. trying to recruit people (both perm and contr).

Which agencies are best able to source good quality candidates and understand what a quality technical person is?

I am currently involved in this both in current gig and to help a friend out who owns a multi-national.

I don't think this has been discussed before? (I'm sure NLUK will comment if it has!)

I don't think this is the criteria you should be looking for from an agent. We know how the work and we are all well aware they are nothing more than a sales/body shop. Doesn't really matter which agency advertises the gig, the same people will apply.

I would personally be looking for an agent that

    1) isn't going to go bust ay times soon
    2) one that is willing to assign me a decent account manager etc.
    3) that has a decent rep in the contracting world i.e. understands contractors and the way they work to minimise disruption i.e not one with a contract that is not IR35 friendly and will not change it..

Oh yeah and one that will offer a fixed rate margins to contractors so you don't pay them for a £350 contractor and end up with a £200 one cause they wat to pocket the rest...plus the hassle of him leaving when he finds out as well.

The reason it hasnt been discussed is because no agency will do a good job, you better start searching yourself.

Working for a multi-national staffing firm I'd be more than happy to suggest a couple of companies

A decent agency will look at your current requirements, future plans and look to put in place a decent partnership for helping you deliver the right heads at the right time.

A decent agent will make an appropriate amount of profit to ensure they can meet all obligations to their suppliers! No shame in that.

So which agencies provide the most IR35 friendly approach/terms? This is a chance for us to say no to agencies such as HAYS and the like......
