AIUI and the role is Tax Free (not Zero rate tax) u'd need to cut all ties with UK to not to have to tip up to HMRC.

Other thing to consider is that the permie role is an hour and half travel up the M6 and back again each day (about £120 in fuel and tolls each week!) until I can relocate (which wouldn't be till later next year)Comment

Good question... just going thro the pro's and con's of each offer out loud really as I'm not sure which way to jump... I have been contracting for 14 years and going back to permie would be quite a shock, but this day and age with contracts in short supply (at least in my field) it might be the time?!Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostWhat advice do you want to hear?Comment

contract market is always up and down. people say there are a shortage of contracts around recently - but there are alot of contractors these days. When I first started there were only about 20,000.Originally posted by chalced View PostGood question... just going thro the pro's and con's of each offer out loud really as I'm not sure which way to jump... personally I would take the permie job - keeping the wife happy is number one. But you are not me - you might be a DimPrawn type who is waiting to "ditch the b1tch" and sow your wild oats.
anyway - at least it is a happy problem in some ways. you have 2 offers. that is good.Comment

Permie.
May God forgive me.

The contract sounds like a lot of hassle for an extra ~£20 per day (or whatever maths you want to do).Originally posted by chalced View PostThe contract is worth about 5K a year more in hard cash due to the 'tax free' incentive.
REALLY not sure which way to go and was wondering what other peeps might do with the same offers on the table??
Keep looking (and perhaps take the permie job in the meantime... you might even like it).Comment

So your company won't have to pay any tax whatsoever? I find that hard to believe, unless you're working in Monaco with Harry Redknapp's mates.Originally posted by chalced View PostIf I take off the tax I will be paying as a permie, then the contract works out at 5K more.Contracting: more of the money, less of the sh1tComment

I think the tax free role was based in another country, so could be the Gulf. Its a no brainer.Vote Corbyn ! Save this country !Comment

£5,000?!
You need to add another zero to that before you should even consider going abroad.
