Hi, first post so please be gentle.
Just had a verbal offer of my 1st contract after a "Technical" telephone interview, but now the agent wants all the following before they will send me the offer in writing.

    4. VAT Certificate (Scanned Copy)-
    5. Incorporation Certificate (Scanned Copy)
    6. Full Name:
    7. Date of Birth:
    8. Current Address:
    9. Permanent Address:
    10. Driving License Number:

    Thanks.

All pretty normal to be honest, just doing their due diligence.

Personally I have never been asked for my driving licence details, but not a big deal unless the technical interview was with some dodgy agency from Nigeria.

Warning they will be asking for your bank account details shortly.

This wouldn't raise any red flags with me, a lot of this information will be needed and put into the formal contract that you receive

EDIT and on your first gig

Use the term passport. This has been done in great detail very recently and many times before.

I am sure you could have applied a bit of common sense and crossed a couple of those of the list first as well.

Edit : I would be more worried they haven't asked for your business bank details to pay you yet!

1, 2 and 3 normal. 4 is also normal, but not required if you are not VAT registered yet. 5 is quite normal also. 6 and 7 are OK I guess, even though 7 should be irrelevant. 8 and 9 are even less relevant, and if it was me, I would query why they need this, but I probably wouldn't put up too much of a fight in the end if they were insistent. No way would I provide number 10. Absolutely irrelevant.

That all seems fairly normal. The only thing that's a little unusual is their asking for you driving licence number. I expect the reason they've asked for it is that, whilst you can use both it and a passport number to confirm a person's identity, it's a slightly easier algorithm to determine whether a driving licence number is really associated with the details of the person that pertains to own it.

A driving licence number is just a number that combines your surname, DOB and gender; you can easily check that it matches the other details given by eye. The fact that driving licences are easier to evaluate by the average human being, of course, consequently makes them easier to forge. That's why it's odd that they're only asking you for the number rather than a scan of the document itself. Anyway, no need for concern for you I would have thought.

              Congratulations on your first contract.

One thing i would be careful of is when they ask for references. A lot of agents ask you for references to get contact details of people where you have worked previously. I maintain a good relationship with my previous clients so prefer pimps not to cold-call them as reflacts badly on me if they mention i provided their contact details

I'm not sure that's a good idea. It's one thing providing them securely on one occasion so that they can be entered into whichever BACS system the client/agency uses for future reference, but I don't think I'd want Disgruntled Dave that works in the mail room, or Kayley the work experience girl to be privy to details of my or MyCo's bank account numbers. Remember what happened to Clarkson.
