That's not always as easy as it sounds. I was working for a consultancy co a few years ago (for a banking client in Glasgow) and I started getting phone calls from mates about the Faster Payments gravy train that had just arrived on Platform 1. I was getting plenty of offers of work at great rates so decided to give notice and realised there was 'no notice period' in my current contract. Using my amazing powers of logical thinking, I decided to piss off the consultancy programme manager and do it mostly in front of the client programme manager. The poor guy in question had the surname of 'West' so I started calling him 'Fred' and sending emails to him starting 'Dear Fred'. All that happened was that everyone thought it was funny so everyone started calling him that. I then started turning up late for meetings and using the 'C' word a lot in public. Things got so bad that I seemed to be able to say absolutely anything to anyone and no one batted an eyelid. Eventually I just didn't go in for a couple of days and 'Fred' phoned me to ask where I was (I was already at a new gig). I told him I didn't come in because he got right on my tits and working with him had caused me to develop erectile dysfunction. He actually ASKED me what we should do to to move forward !! I ended up saying 'If I was you I would just terminate my contract, cause I'm clearly an annoying c**t'. He hummed and hawed and told me he'd need to check some things and come back to me. Phoned back a week later and mumbled 'If it's Ok with you, we'll terminate contracts by mutual consent. Do you need any timesheets signed off ?'Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostYou could try gross misconduct.
Jeez, go for the direct approach and feel a burd's tits in a meeting or punch someone. When freedom comes along, don't PISH in the water supply.....Comment

Would never advocate punching a woman mate. Not unless you'd drugged her first or she specifically asked you to punch her for sexual gratification purposesOriginally posted by JamJarST View PostI suppose you could feel a girl's tits and then punch her

Following on from my other thread, concidentally I am in almost the same position as the OP. The contract the agent is about to send me stipulates that I cannot quit, I have to see the project through, but they can fire me. I questioned the agent about this specifically because of this thread, and he said it would make me safer from HMRC since it shows I am contracted to work on a project and will do that til the end.
Is he correct? Obviously I will send it to QDOS before I sign, but I thought I would ask here too. The contract is only 3 months, so hopefully I won't need to quit.Comment

You need to make your own decision.
My own personal decision on the matter is that I never sign one-sided notice clauses. Ever.
We've debated stances on this many times, and some people feel differently. Use Search (as northernladuk, would say.

Usually I'd agree I would want to change it, but it's 3 months and a short-ish commute, so think I will see how it goes and if they want to renew I will get the new contract made up with a notice period.Originally posted by nomadd View PostThe agent will tell you anything that suits them.
