Would you expect the plasterer to stamp his feet and spit his dummy out because your priorities have changed? Or would you expect him to just do the fookin job?

    D&C my arse.
Agree, direction and control for me only applies on the "how" you do the piece of work, doesn't matter which one.

If you get any chat about "unacceptable", tell them that no arrangements were made for availability when not in office.

Better still don't give them your home\mobile number if there are no arrangements in place.
Of course, no company mobile for contractors (and neither would I take one off them!) so my own number is listed for people to use.

Seriously thinking of getting a separate simcard for daytime use and out of hours use....

Perhaps its just my client LOL.

Personally, I cant stand the type of PM who thinks of techies as a resource to bullied and bossed around. Stick to project stuff and business stuff but if theres any technical decisions to be made I will do so not you. If you dont like it - do the techie stuff yourself LOL.

BJ has a good point. If you hire a plasterer hes going to do what you say within reason since you;re the one paying him.

For out of hours or during the day.

Unless I was contracted in someway, I wouldn't be answering out of hours.

Why bother with the hassle of a seperate sim card?

If it's a number you recognise, answer it. Anything else, let it go to voicemail, if it's important they'll leave a message just like the end client co will/

Where does "any amount of work for a client in any 24 hour period" appear in the phrase "Professional Working Day" ?

To be honest, dont really think a client would be over-impressed if you billed a whole day for one 5 min phone call?
