    Luxembourg Opportunity

Done a search with no luck so....

Does anyone contract in Luxembourg that can't do the weekly commute from London?
Flights from Liverpool / Manchester are a non starter so I'm wondering how others do it. Its looking like I'm gonna have to turn it down. Shame.

    Why not stay there?

Flying to / from Luxembourg is always expensive, no matter where you fly from.

What's wrong with staying in LU for a few weeks at a time? It's a bit boring but infinitely better than most places in the UK.

So why not fly out to a neighbouring country and then commute across the border to work in Lux?

Eurostar from Liverpool? There's a joke in there, but being a professional forum, I can't say it.

Manchester - Euston, short walk, St Pancras - Brussells, train to Luxembourg or hire car.

You should be able fly to Hahn, about an hour's drive in Germany, Frankfurt is about 2 and a half hours drive.

Not much in the way of public transport, you'd probably have to hire a car. There is a bus to Trier, but you still need to get to Luxembourg from there, which is a 20 minute drive.

In fact it is a very pleasant drive indeed from Hahn, you could if you wanted drive up the Moselle and have a coffee in a quaint little village on the way.

I occasionally used to fly to the UK from Hahn when I was working in Lux.

Summertime in Luxembourg could be very pleasant indeed, there is a very nice outdoor swimming pool on the Moselle. You could stay in a quaint little village just outside Luxembourg and go for a swim in the evening then relax with a Moselle wine.

As others have mentioned, a lot of people working in Lux are actually staying in nearby Germany.
Just fly to somewhere within a 200-300km radius of Lux and rent a car for the week.
Personally, I had to refuse, for family reasons, but friends who worked there loved the environment, culture and how close it is to everywhere (France, Italy, Germany - what's your mood for the weekend)

Too far to travel to the Wild Geese on a Thursday night in Brussels though.
