I've seen plenty of permie work advertised lately, fortunately I've another 2 months to run on my current so I'll look for another contract role in a month. I don't fancy going back to permiedoom one bit

Got an offer, approved by several levels of management apart from the final ****er who pulled the plug on the whole thing. 6 weeks on the bench now. Market looks cr4p. Pissed off.

Speaking of lower rates this year, here's a dev role in the City of London!

URGENT - SQL Server Developer - £150pd/£170pd - 1 month contract - City of London job - City Of London - March-06-2012 (Cwkxg)

They will never get quality at those rates, it's as simple as that.

That's what I do and it seems to work. Most agencies initially review CVs with key word software which is why too many agents are too dumb to see that you are qualified for the job.

I'm hoping its the market myself! I've been in the game for 6 years, my last contract was with Microsoft as a subject matter expert and I can't land a 3rd line support role in 2 months (although I did turn down 1 gig).

Horrid times for me, wish I hadn't have taken a 3 month break last year without even looking at job sites..
