Market is looking better than December but still very poor when compared to Jan last year when I was also looking. Anybody else finding it the same?

my phone was on fire on Tuesday - battery down to 20% by 11:00 in the morning! Definitely a big improvement on December. Got some interviews lined-up already. Fingers crossed.Comment

The market is good.
Finished last contract mid December then started looking at the start of January. Phone never stopped ringing since and secured a role yesterday. Even NHS contracts seem to be picking up as had a few calls.
Don't believe the doom and gloom (unless you contract mainly in the financial sector).Last edited by Regent; 11 January 2012, 13:02.Comment

IMHO, the market for IT contracts seems to be okay at the moment. I did expect to be out of work for a while this year but this hasn't been the case.Comment

I agree - there are roles out there but a noticed a larger than usual ratio of permie roles.Originally posted by Regent View PostDon't believe the doom and gloom (unless you contract mainly in the financial sector).
In the finance sector where i've been looking - rates are a bit below average, too soon for me to tell if the number of roles are high/low as we're still 2nd week of Jan.
But hearing about RBS IB shedding jobs, a whole heap of other IB's cutting contractor rates by 10% i'm expecting finance to be not so good in the first quarter.Comment

Yes that's my feeling. I have so far been going for the financial sector and it isn't looking good.Originally posted by yamamma View PostI agree - there are roles out there but a noticed a larger than usual ratio of permie roles.
