    No such thing really.

Certainly there aren't many that get recommended here. They would all sell their grandmothers if they got the chance. I would suggest that you get yourself onto the job sites Jobserve, Monster etc and try to get in touch with a few of the agencies there and see which ones will arrange meetings with you. Make sure you being the obligatory two references along with you.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

          Think you're pushing it here.

Firstly, looking for a good agency is going to depend on an individual's experience. There are some agencies I'd prefer not to touch, but others I know think they are great. There are some I've had no problems with that other people I know wouldn't touch.

Secondly, trying to find one where you can sit down and hand over your CV. I've been to an agency once, which was when the client interviewed at the agency premises. These days (and probably for all time), agents have neither the time nor the inclination to spend with someone that they don't know. You haven't even applied for a role, you just want to pop in and have a chat, it seems.

Even if they wanted to do that, they are going to ask for an electronic copy of your CV anyway to get onto the system. By all means find agencies and send them a CV by email, but popping in with a paper copy is wasting your time and theirs.

In a serious note I do admire the thought of going to agents with your CV but I think you are going the wrong way about it, you find the job that matches your skills and go to which ever agent are representing them, sometimes you make find out that there are more than one agency and then its a time to start thinking about one over another but you are more likely to get success by hitting the internet job sites, I have NEVER had a face to face with an agent, and by limiting yourself to ones locally you can actually visit it will seriously hamper your chances of getting a contract. Last two agencies I went though was in Suffolk and Tewkesbury, I live in Yorkshire so neither will ever see me face to face.

Simon is right. OP - You know the rates for desktop support are very often complete pants-ola dont you? Dont be surprised to see positions offered for under £10 a hour....

A mate of mine did one short term for £100 a day recently. Piss easy and it was better than nothing he said but they were well unhappy when he gave notice for something better! Dont know why they'd be surprised at that though....
