Agent posting out sections of my CV and claiming requirement came from client

Today I got an e-mail from an agent saying a new requirement had come up. Here's what was in the e-mail:

    Key skills:

    Rails 3.0/3.1

    RAILS TESTING
    Factory Girl, Capybara, Webrat, Selenium
    RUBY ON RAILS PLUGINS
    Devise
    RUBY
    Ruby 1.9
    RAILS TEMPLATING
    ERb, HTML Abstraction Markup Language

This is an exact cut-and-paste from a CV I sent them on 2 Dec 11.

Would REC be interested in this?

Why do you think REC would be interested just because an agent likes your list better than his? You should be chuffed he has taken your list.

Agents are not technical people so their ability to right job specs and also match a CV up to a spec is pretty poor so it is hardly surprising the cut and paste to make their lives a little easier.

I would guess he has been asked to write a spec for some technology he remember he saw on your CV and has taken your list as he doesn't know any better.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over this..

You could add RTFM, WGAS and KUATB to your list for next time for a giggle.

Sounds like the contract is perfect for the OP.

Bet he fails to get an interview.

Now it looks like the OP just cut'n'paste the requirements into his CV as his skillset
        Keeping calm. Keeping invoicing.

You can get your bottom dollar if he does get infront of the client the role will be nothing to do with any of this technology.

Probably not, I think they use SQLSever/Linq But you could try them I guess.

More seriously, if you are in contract using those skills, are you sure they are not actually trying to replace you? Now that would be bad.

Haha, I like some of the replies.

What troubles me is that this is a blatant fishing exercise. There obviously is no real requirement. I was under the impression such behaviour is illegal.

Unfortunately, they're not REC registered but they're a "popular" agency on this forum. Anyone know of any other bodies I can get to come down on them?

None. You can't prove it's your CV as the list is quite a generic one.

If it had exact phrases from your CV in the advert a quick phone call to the director of the agency would get the advert removed asap.

I've had to do so in the past and it was the phrases that gave it away. In fact the agent copied two entire roles I did word from word.

Wow SueEllen that's a more extreme version of what this bunch have done. I know what you mean about it not being phrases though, but I've attached an image from my CV and it's clear they've cut-and-pasted it even down to the capitalisation.

These agent are so lazy they can't even be bothered to fake their own requirements these days!

                    ...

                    Please move this to General...

With the words testing, factory girl, capybara, cucumber, gherkin........

There is too much fun to be had there to leave this in a professional forum.

Are you sure this is a skillset and not a wishlist?
